22 May: 142

Today is the 142nd day of the year. 10 things you might not know about the number 142:

  1. The Roman numeral for 142 is CXLII. In Binary it's written 10001110.
  2. It's the atomic number of unquadbium, an undiscovered theoretical chemical element.
  3. Asteroid 142 is Polana, a very dark asteroid from the asteroid belt. It was discovered by Johann Palisa on in 1875, and named after the city of Pola, home of the Austrian Naval Observatory where he made the discovery.
  4. London bus route 142 runs between Watford Junction station and Brent Cross bus station.
  5. Another bus 142 was the one that Christopher Johnson McCandless, also known as Alexander Supertramp, subject of the film Into The Wild, lived in towards the end of his life, in Alaska.
  6. The A142 is a road in England which runs between Chatteris and Newmarket.
  7. In the Urban Dictionary, 142 is used to represent the phase "I love us".
  8. Psalm 142 is the one which begins "I call to the LORD for help; I plead with him. I bring him all my complaints; I tell him all my troubles." (Good News Bible)
  9. 142 is a song by the band Crackout, which appears on their 2002 album This Is Really Neat.
  10. In numerology, 142 is introspective, intuitive and wise. It's comfortable with new beginnings, although it will have carefully analysed the reasons for the new start. It's spiritual and self-sufficient. They are usually popular, even though they don't go out of their way to be sociable.
