10 weird and wonderful things which happened on 8 June:
- This date in 1925 was the birth date of Barbara Bush, wife of 41st US President George Bush, and mother of 43rd President George W. Bush. She is one of only two women to be both wife and mother to US presidents, the other being Abigail Adams. She once said during a speech: "Somewhere out there in the audience may even be someone who will one day follow in my footsteps, and preside over the White House as the President’s spouse. I wish him well."
- In 1374, Geoffrey Chaucer was appointed Comptroller of the Customs and Subsidy of Wools at £10 a year.
- In 1504, Michelangelo's David was set in place in the Palazzo of Florence, Italy.
- In 1949, 1984, George Orwell's vision of a world ruled by Big Brother, was published.

- It's been a good date for household appliances. In 1824, the Washing machine was patented by Noah Cushing of Quebec, and in 1869 Ives McGaffney of Chicago obtained a patent for a "sweeping machine," essentially the first Vacuum cleaner.
- In 2002 18 year old hairdresser Lee Becks went for a Chinese meal. When the waitress started laughing at his tattoo, he discovered that Mandarin words he'd had inked on his arm for £90 did not read ‘Love, Honour and Obey’ as he'd thought, but actually read: ‘At the end of the day, this is an ugly boy.’
The Power of Love
Willow believes in crystal healing, cosmic ordering and the significance of chance encounters. She believes there's a spiritual explanation for everything. Except she struggles to find a reason why she can turn herself into mist and create a wave of energy which can slam a would-be mugger into a wall. Or why the love of her life left her for a mysterious woman in sunglasses, who then disappeared without trace.
A chance encounter with Firebolt, leader of the Freedom League superhero team, in a Glastonbury coffee shop, does turn out to be significant. He offers her a new start and the chance to use her powers for good.
Servant is a Christian who has joined the Freedom League in order to use his teleporting power to serve God. He and Willow clash from the start, yet they are drawn inexorably to one another.
When Willow leaves the team abruptly for reasons unknown, Servant knows he must put her out of his mind and find a nice Christian girl to settle down with. He is about to propose to devout and straight-laced Ruth, when Willow returns and turns his entire world upside down.
