Megamek. The Megamek battledroid was brought to Earth by a race of aliens wanting to plunder Earth's supply of uranium. However, their craft crash landed in the wilderness of Colorado, killing the alien pilot.

A teenager from the nearby mining town of Nuisance witnessed the crash, having gone on a camping trip in order to forget a girl who'd rejected him in favour of the school football hero. He was a talented engineer named DeForest whose first love was tinkering and building gadgets. He collected the wreckage and set about rebuilding the machine in a disused corn silo.

The aliens, meanwhile, returned with another battledroid to complete their mission. When the new battledroid appeared in the town, Deforest knew it was up to him to defeat it. His lack of knowledge of alien technology worked in his favour as he had failed to install a safety feature which prevented battledroids from shooting at one another – so the alien did not see it as a threat, but when it proved to be one, couldn't shoot back.

News of what had happened in the small mining town spread across the world at about the time the Combat Teams were being formed. The four people founding the teams all headed for Colorado to recruit Deforest and his thirty foot battledroid. However, they deemed the droid unsafe to use and ultimately rejected it. Combat Team Epsilon, however, were willing to give DeForest and his battledroid a chance.
