  1. On this date in 1534, the city of San Francisco de Quito, the capital of Ecuador, was founded by two Spanish conquistadors, Sebastian de Benalcazar and Diego de Almagro. It was founded on the ruins of the northern capital of the Inca empire; the Incas had destroyed their city rather than hand it over to the Spaniards.
  2. In 1917, Finland declared its independence after the collapse of the Russian Empire and Vladimir Lenin's rise to power in Moscow. Finland had become a Russian territory during the 19th century but had been granted increasing autonomy by the tsars.
  3. In 1877, Thomas Alva Edison recited Mary Had a Little Lamb into his phonograph – the world's first recording of the human voice.
  4. The Microwave oven was patented on this date in 1945.
  5. In 1995, The Isle of Wight Zoo announced that it would be giving special training to its Siberian Tigers during a cold snap, because they had never seen Snow before.
  6. In 1957, America's first attempt at putting a satellite into orbit blew up on the launch pad at Cape Canaveral, Florida.
  7. In 1967, Cliff Richard was confirmed into membership of The Church Of England at St. Paul's Church, Finchley, London.
  8. It was announced on this date in 2002 that in a mere 400 hours, the value of pi had been calculated to 1.24 trillion places by a Hitachi supercomputer programmed by a team of ten led by Professor Yasumasa Kanada at the Information Technology Center at Tokyo University.
  9. In 1557, a Pig in Saint-Quentin, France, was sentenced to be buried alive for the crime of eating a child.
  10. In 1983, a deck of cards fetched the highest price for a pack of Playing cards ever at an auction. The Metropolitan Museum of Art of New York coughed up $143,352.00 for them. The cards were from around 1470-85 and are believed to be the oldest known complete hand-painted deck.

A Superhero love story.

Sent away to school to get her away from undesirable company, Agnes finds herself homesick and lonely. A brief connection with Jason Warner leads to the teenage crush to end all teenage crushes. Jason is barely aware Agnes exists, but she plans her whole future around him.

It is only when they meet again as adults that the connection becomes mutual; but before it can develop, Jason makes a discovery which rocks his entire world. He needs time alone, away from everyone, including Agnes. When Jason is finally ready to go back to his old life, Agnes has moved on and he cannot find her.

Agnes is now a single parent to the remarkable Seraphina. The Power League want to harness Seraphina's powers for evil before the Freedom League become aware of her. Agnes has no idea her new colleague and friend is a supervillain with his own agenda, and his willingness to babysit is not as innocent as she thinks. As Incendio starts teaching Seraphina to use her powers, the Freedom League intervene. Little do they know that they have found one of their own.
