A.A. Milne, creator of Winnie The Pooh, was born on this date in 1882. Pooh Day is to celebrate his birthday. So in honour of Pooh Day, here are 10 Winnie the Pooh quotes:

  1. Here is Edward Bear, coming downstairs now, bump, bump bump on the back of his head, behind Christopher Robin.  It is, as far as he knows, the only way of coming downstairs, but sometimes he feels that there really is another way, if only he could stop bumping for a moment and think of it.
  2. When you are a Bear of Very Little Brain, and you Think of Things, you find sometimes that a Thing which seemed very Thingish inside you is quite different when it gets out into the open and has other people looking at it.
  3. You can't stay in your corner of the Forest waiting for others to come to you. You have to go to them sometimes.
  4. If the person you are talking to doesn't appear to be listening, be patient. It may simply be that he has a small piece of fluff in his ear.
  5. Eeyore was saying to himself, “This writing business. Pencils and what-not. Over-rated, if you ask me. Silly stuff. Nothing in it.
  6. A day without a friend is like a pot without a single drop of honey left inside.
  7. When you see someone putting on his Big Boots, you can be pretty sure that an Adventure is going to happen.
  8. I think we dream so we don’t have to be apart for so long. If we’re in each other’s dreams, we can be together all the time.
  9. Poetry and Hums aren’t things which you get, they’re things which get you. And all you can do is go where they can find you.
  10. If ever there is tomorrow when we're not together... there is something you must always remember. you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. But the most important thing is, even if we're apart... I'll always be with you.
