Psi Star, a member of Combat Team Gamma who can fly and has psionic powers. She was the youngest of a family of twelve children living on the poverty line in rural Oklahoma. After numerous attempts on her life, she was forced to drop out of high school and run away to New York.

In New York, she lived rough for a few weeks before taken under the wing of gangster matriarch Carlotta Vendetta. She lived with them for several months, using her powers to help them. Carlotta wanted Whitney to marry of her sons and produce offspring with psionic powers. When she began a love affair with Jack Pozzi (Leadslinger) a member of a rival family, the Vendettas threw her out. She followed Leadslinger to England but their affair came to an end soon after. By this time, however, she had a place on Combat Team Gamma.
