5 March: 64

Today is the 64th day of the year. Here are 10 things you might not know about the number 64:

  1. The Commodore 64 is a home computer introduced in January 1982 by Commodore International. It has been listed in the Guinness World Records as the highest-selling single computer model of all time.
  2. There are 64 squares on a Chess board.
  3. There are 64 hexagrams in the I Ching.
  4. +64 is the code for international direct dial calls to New Zealand.
  5. The Beatles song, When I’m Sixty-Four, was written by Paul McCartney when he was 14, one of the first songs he wrote. It appears on the Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album.
  6. The A64 is a major road in North and West Yorkshire, England, which links Leeds, York and Scarborough.
  7. 64 is the atomic number of Gadolinium (Gd), a silvery-white metal which turns black when exposed to air.
  8. 64 is the ASCII code for @.
  9. The total number of gems in a standard Bejeweled game board is 64.
  10. In numerology, people influenced by this number are self-sufficient and do their own thing. Acknowledgement and praise from others don’t matter much to them. Their motivation is usually to do something which will benefit their family. They might be the head of their family, or aspire to a leadership position through their work.

Character Birthday

Switch, aka Alyson Pryor. She is a member of Combat Team Alpha along with her sister, Flux. She has a teleporting power which allows her to swap positions with any given person. Not in a published story yet, but I'm currently working on a new novel, Alpha, about her team!
