15 April: 105

On the 105th day of the year, 10 things you might not know about the number 105:

  1. 105 is written as CV in Roman numerals and 1101001 in binary.
  2. It's the atomic number of dubnium, a highly radioactive synthetic chemical element with the symbol Db. It was named after Dubna, a place in Russia, after a long winded naming controversy which had considered nielsbohrium, hahnium, unnilpentium (from the Latin roots un- and nil- and the Greek root pent- meaning "one", "zero" and "five", the digits of the atomic number), joliotium, rutherfordium and seaborgium.
  3. The A105 is a road in London which connects Canonbury and Enfield.
  4. In the USA, there are three unconnected roads referred to as Interstate 105, two in California and one in Oregon.
  5. In the UK, 105 is the telephone number to call if you want to report a power cut or safety concern about the Electricity supply, or receive reassurance during a blackout.
  6. In New Zealand, it's the number for non-emergency calls to the police, the equivalent of 101 in the UK.
  7. In London, the 105 bus runs between Greenford Station and Heathrow Central Bus Station.
  8. 105 is the name of a song by Kim Petras.
  9. AS-105 was the fifth and final orbital flight of a boilerplate Apollo spacecraft, launched in 1965.
  10. In numerology the essence of the number 105 is harmony and responsibility, home and nurturing. While it also has an energy of acting on a whim and expressing personal freedom, its main concern is harmony – and not fulfilling one's responsibilities is not harmonious. It will however insist on fulfilling its responsibilities in its own way.
