13 March: Ken Day

Ken Day Anniversary of Barbie's boyfriend, Ken. Ken, and also Kenny, are shortened forms of the name Kenneth, which is of Celtic origin and means "Handsome." To celebrate Ken day, here is a list of ten famous Kenneths.


Kenneth Grahame
Kenneth Branagh (born 1960) Shakespearean actor from Belfast who succeeded Richard Attenborough as president of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in 2015.
Kenneth Clarke (born 1940) British conservative politician who was the MP for Rushcliffe in Nottinghamshire and has served as Education Secretary, Health Secretary, Chancellor of the Exchequer and Home Secretary. For the last few months of his career he was an independent, sidelined by his party for voting against forcing Britain back into the dark ages. He retired in December 2019.
Kenneth Grahame (1859-1932) Scottish author most famous for The Wind in the Willows. He also wrote The Reluctant Dragon. His day job was Secretary of the Bank of England.
Kenneth Williams (1926-1988) actor best known for his appearances in 26 Carry On Films and radio comedies, where he often worked with yet another Kenneth, Kenneth Horne.
Ken Livingstone (born 1945) Labour politician who became the first Mayor of London in 2000. Nicknamed "Red Ken" by the media.
Kenny Ball (1930-2013) Jazz trumpeter and leader of Kenny Ball and his Jazzmen, who had a few hit records in the UK in the 1960s, including Midnight in Moscow and March of the Siamese Children.
Kenny Baker (1934-2016) British actor was was just 3 feet 8 inches tall. He appeared in the films The Elephant Man, Time Bandits, Willow, Labyrinth, Flash Gordon and Amadeus, but is best known as R2D2 in Star Wars.
Kenny Dalglish (born 1951) footballer who made more than 300 appearances for Celtic and Liverpool.
Kenny Everett (1944-1995) British DJ and comedian whose TV show featured characters such as space adventurer Captain Kremmen, punk rocker Gizzard Puke and actress Cupid Stunt ("Everything is always done in the best possible taste.")
Kenny McCormick is a fictional character in the animated TV series South Park. He wears a Parka with a hood obscuring most of his face, so his speech is usually unintelligible. For the first five series of the show, Kenny would invariably meet a horrible death, prompting the lines "My God, they killed Kenny!" He would always appear alive and well in the next episode with no explanation.

Tabitha Drake series

A different kind of power - the ability to talk to dead people. Tabitha has it, and murder victims seek her out to make sure justice is done. Tabitha has this and a disastrous love life to cope with.
















Short story collections

Some feature characters from the above novels, others don't. They're not all about superheroes. Some are creepy, romantic, funny.
