16 July: Mary Baker Eddy Quotes

Mary Baker Eddy was the founder of the Christian Science movement. She was born on 16 July, 1821.

  3. Sin makes its own hell, and goodness its own heaven.
  4. When angels visit us, we do not hear the rustle of wings, nor feel the feathery touch of the breast of a dove; but we know their presence by the love they create in our hearts.
  5. True prayer is not asking God for love; it is learning to love, and to include all mankind in one affection.
  6. When the heart speaks, however simple the words, its language is always acceptable to those who have hearts.
  7. Under affliction in the very depths, stop and contemplate what you have to be grateful for.
  8. Great mischief comes from attempts to steady other people's altars.
  9. Two points of danger beset mankind; namely, making sin seem either too large or too little.
